Wedding Day!
July 7, 2018
To celebrate our marriage, close family and local friends joined us in Old Havana on a hot, wonderful day.
At a simple ceremony, everyone formed a circle.
The Justice of the Peace made everything official.
Our wedding vows were statements of what we love in one another, and together.
We repeated them in Spanish and English, back and forth to each other
in a flow that led to a few watery eyes
Fortunately Daliana had tissues ready.
Everyone around the circle shared special words for us.
Together, it felt like a quilt of love.
Our niece and nephew, Natyance and Jett, sealed it with big, welcoming hugs.
Then, we all hopped into six classic convertibles
and rode through the city, honking and waving back and forth
with the pedestrians and people hanging over balconies
who cheered us.
We felt like celebrities of love!
Later, we enjoyed dinner, music, and dancing on a rooftop terrace in an elegant old home.
Salsa bled into funk and American oldies, then back into popular Cuban music.
A piñata rained sweets on a big crowd of cheering adults, and a few kiddos.
We danced all night.
Thank you everyone present in body and spirit for celebrating with us and sending us into marriage with so much heart.
Your love is part of our love.
The best part is… this is only the beginning!
